Everything Happens For A Reason

This I Believe
I believe that everything happens for a reason. We have all had events in our lives that have left us feeling disappointed, sad or possibly even cheated. Often times as these events are happening to us, we cannot think of a single explanation.  There are many examples of this, such as not getting accepted into the college of your dreams.  Maybe you were denied to that specific school because there is a plan for you to succeed at another college. This is why I believe that everything happens for a reason.

Have you ever experienced something and caught yourself asking, "why me? Why did this happen to me and not someone else?"  My dad had only one sister, who I called Aunt Rose. When I was five years old, she got married and became the happiest woman in the world. Immediately after, her husband and she began to try to have a baby. They tried for months and months, but still there was no luck. Months tuned into years and finally they turned to a fertility doctor. She became angry because she wanted nothing more than a child to complete her perfect life, but no matter how hard she tried, she could not get pregnant. Young girls who were not even ready to begin motherhood were having babies, why couldn’t she? She felt cheated.  From the day I was born, she knew she wanted to get married and have children just like her brother had. Everyone knew Rose would be such an amazing mother.

It was just a week after her thirty-seventh birthday when she started to feel sick one night. She was treated over night at the hospital for nothing more than dehydration and a stomach bug, or so we thought. The morning she was supposed be discharged, she was found not breathing. Doctors and nurses spent over an hour coding her, but finally she was pronounced dead. At thirty-seven years old this healthy, beautiful young women passed away. There was so much joy and excitement to come in her life, which she never got to experience.
All of the sadness and anger of Aunt Rose not being able to become pregnant made sense now. If God had blessed her with a child, that child would have been left without a mother. Imagine a birthday without a mom. Imagine getting on the bus for your first day of school without a mom. Imagine your wedding day without your mom. It is my belief everything happens for a reason.
